Richard Roundtree is Shaft.
John Shaft.
Y'know, the black private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
And in 1972, he recorded an album. I just got my grubby little hands on a digital copy of this album, and it's... well, it's not what I expected. I was expecting a little more funk. This album is pretty mellow, and Mr. Roundtree himself has a very pleasant voice. This song is probably the rockingest track on the album, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
If you like this, let me know. I'm considering a whole hourlong mix of covers, ripoffs, parodies, and soundalikes of the Isaac Hayes theme song.

sweet! If you do a Shaft mix I recommend the Sammy Davis Jr version!
You absolutely may. I'm pretty sure I've got that around here somewhere.
