R. L. Burnside was in the recording industry for almost 40 years, till his death in 2005. His life and work were a major inspiration for the film Black Snake Moan. His recording of Stag was the inspiration for Samuel L. Jackson's magnificent recording of the same song in the film, which we'll hear next week.I love just how much joy R. L. gets out of Stag's meanness, with his laughing delivery of every line that includes a murder.
