Stagger Lee Saturdays - Samuel L. Jackson

This is from the soundtrack to Black Snake Moan. Sam Jackson's character here was inspired by R. L. Burnside, who does a mean Stag hisownself. And he's backed by Burnside's own band here, as well.

But where Burnside was quietly laughing at the evil Stag does, here Sam Jackson boasts, loud and proud, of the violence and the psychopathy that the song brings out in him. Sam also curses a lot more too, but that's only to be expected. Nobody curses as well as Sam Jackson.

Very kind words, thank you. Believe it or not, I haven't yet heard the Black Keys song. I will seek it out, though.

Stay tuned -- we have a double helping of Stag tomorrow.

I clicked over to your blog and will listen to some selections at work tonight -- looks good!

It's called, "Stack Shot Billy," from "Rubber Factory."

By the by, your collection of Stagger Lee tracks is making up at least one of the gifts i'm giving to Pop for Father's Day. We're both huge blues fans and this will work wonders.

As for "my" site, it's actually more of a collective that had been going for a few years before i joined. Obviously, our focus is much different than yours (mostly DC- and PA-based music), but i just love writing about tunes, so what can you do?
